What is the Perfume Note?
We’ve mentioned perfume notes a lot in this article, but we’ve not covered what that phrase means. A perfume note is simply an ingredient for perfume. To make a perfume, you’ll need to combine several perfume notes to get the scent you want.
This combination needs to have at least three types of notes in it. These can also be identified as the three stages or the types of perfume notes.
Types of Perfume Notes
Top note:
The top note is your first impression of the perfume. It’s the beautiful aroma that comes out with the first spray. It is also the last note added to the fragrance by the manufacturers. Citrus and floral scents are favorites for top notes.
Last time: It dissipates within half an hour.
Middle note:
The middle note is also known as the heart note because it forms the perfume’s core aroma. When the first perfume note disappears, this aroma is the bridge between the top note and the harsher base note. Floral aromas are also popular here.
Last time: It appears 20-30 minutes from the moment of your first spritz. It can last up to three hours.
Base note:
These perfume notes are the slowest to appear, but they last the longest. They’re also known as endnotes. These scents are the ones that linger on your clothes and skin. They’re usually made from woody, warm and balsamic aromas.
Last time: From several hours to a few days.
Conclusion
Learning the fragrance families provides advantages that make life easier. It becomes easier to define what sort of perfume will meet your needs. It’ll help you choose a scent for the different seasons and occasions. It can help you choose a gift for someone special.
While it might take a little time, once you get the basic family aromas down, you are on your way to becoming a real perfume connoisseur.
